Delegations of AIDESEP arrive in Bagua for gathering tomorrow in Santa Maria de Nieva

Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest – AIDESEP

The Directing Council of AIDESEP, the Apus of the regional organizations and representatives of the different federations integrating our organization arrived at the city of Bagua today on the way to Santa Maria de Nieva, where they will meet with the Indigenous Peoples of the five watersheds of the Amazon Region in order to listen to the demands and needs of the pueblos.

Vice president Daysi Fasabi Zapata of AIDESEP, of the Yine people, related that the arrival of the convoy served to recognize the effort, sacrifice, bravery, hope and courage of the Awajun and Wampis Peoples who resisted heroically in the struggle in defense of their territories.

"We have come together with all the national and regional leadership to pay tribute to our brothers, to recognize and admire their bravery, but also to listen, to strengthen the demands of our indigenous struggle and show the country that the Amazon Peoples are generous and peaceful, we simply are striving for respect for our territories because it is our life, our future and the salvation of the planet, " she said.

The gathering is scheduled for tomorrow the 2nd of July in Santa Maria de Nieva bringing together all the delegations of all communities in the five watershed basins of the Amazon region: Cenepa, Marañón, Nieva, Chiriaco and Santiago.
